Public transport in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Gori, Poti, Telavi, Bakuriani, Borjomi, Batumi, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Mtskheta, Dmanisi and Baghdati accepts all TBC payment cards, physical cards as well as a digital wallet, for paying fares. You can also use municipal travel cards in Kutaisi, Gori, Poti, Telavi, Bakuriani, Borjomi, Mtskheta, Dmanisi and Baghdati.

The public transport system accepts maximum 10 card payments (validations) daily. After 10 payments (validations), your card will be blocked in the public transport system for 24 hours.

A municipal travel card can be purchased in TBC branches in Gori, Kutaisi, Poti, Telavi, Borjomi, Mtskheta, Dmanisi and Baghdati, as well as in the following chain stores:

Paying on public transport with payment cards from other banks

  • In Kutaisi public transport, all VISA/MasterCard payments are accepted, whether the card issuer is a Georgian or a foreign bank.

 

At present, you can use cards from the following Georgian banks (apart from TBC):

  4. Kartu Bank

Other Georgian banks will be added gradually.

  1. How much will the fare be if I use a bank card other than TBC's
  • If you pay with a card from a different bank, the fare will be:

GEL (in case of all Georgian banks listed above and all foreign banks).

If you use a Basis Bank card on Kutaisi transport, you will pay the standard municipal fare.

Tbilisi

All TBC Bank debit and credit cards are accepted on public transport in Tbilisi.

In Tbilisi, TBC clients can use their card to pay fares on:

  • Tbilisi Metro
  • Buses
  • Blue Minibuses
  • Cable car

 

General terms for using cards on transport

  • If you have to change transport, you get free transfer(s) within 1.5 hours of paying your fare with your card.
  • If you pay your fare with your digital wallet but use a physical card on your next ride (or vice versa), the 1.5 hour grace period will not apply.
  • If you validate your bank card twice on the same bus/blue mini buse, make sure that at least 15 minutes have passed since the first, paid validation, so that your second validation is free of charge.
  • Exclusion – The 1.5 hour grace period does not apply if you validate your card repeatedly at the same Metro station. The fare will be charged every time you validate your card at the same station.
  • Fares are set by the City Hall. At present, the public transport fare is 1 GEL.

 

At present, there are no special terms on any TBC cards when used on Tbilisi public transport. Student / Pupil's Cards and payment cards issued to socially vulnerable persons are no exception.

 

Transit Passes for Tbilisi Public Transport

From 1 September 2022, it has been possible to integrate transit passes into TBC's physical cards. Transit passes cannot be linked to digital wallets.  

Customers may buy a transit pass for any period and get it integrated with their TBC card. Transit passes of all types can be purchased in TBC branches or via mobile banking.

To buy a transit pass in your mobile banking app, go to Transfers > Public Transport. Your transit pass will only be linked to the card you have selected for the purpose.

Transit passes can be used on the following public transport in Tbilisi:

  • Tbilisi Metro
  • Tbilisi Buses
  • Tbilisi blue Minibuses

The transit pass on your bank card becomes valid within 3 (three) minutes of purchase.
 

One transit pass can be integrated into one active payment card only.


Only two transit passes can be integrated into the same active payment card. The second passes will become valid once the first one expires.


The transit pass on your bank card cannot be cancelled/suspended until it expires.

All transit passes integrated into a bank card have a daily limit of 20 payments. After the daily limit expires, you will not be able to use the transit pass integrated into your bank card on the same day.

The transit pass on your bank card will be on hold for 15 minutes before you use it repeatedly on the same transport. After you pay your fare with the transit pass on your bank card, you will not be able to use it again on the same transport for the next 15 minutes.

A transit pass can be transferred from one card to another in a branch. If your bank card is damaged, you can move your transit pass to your other valid card. For this purpose, you need to apply to any TBC Bank branch. Please note that if you need to replace your card due to damage or for any other reason, the transit pass will not transfer to your new card automatically. You can apply to any TBC Bank branch to get it transferred to a new card.

Batumi

All TBC credit and debit cards are accepted on Batumi public transport.

Rustavi

All TBC credit and debit cards are accepted on Rustavi public transport.

  • Fares are set by the City Hall. Currently, the public transport fare is 0.5 GEL.
  • The exception is Route #20 Rustavi-Tbilisi / Tbilisi-Rustavi, which costs 1.50 GEL.

 

At present, there are no special terms on any TBC cards when used on Rustavi public transportStudent / Pupil's Cards and payment cards issued to socially vulnerable persons are no exception.

Zugdidi

All TBC credit and debit cards are accepted on Zugdidi public transport.

Personalized Cards

On Telavi transport, special terms (0.4 GEL) apply to personalized travel cards issued to certain categories of the vulnerable population as established by the City Hall. Such cards bear the holder's name, surname and photo. At present, personalized cards are issued by Telavi City Hall.

 

A 0.4 GEL tariff will apply to the following categories of Telavi residents:

a) Pensioners under the Law on Georgia on State Pensions registered in Telavi Municipality;

b) IDPs registered in Telavi Municipality;

c) Veterans of war and the defense forces registered in Telavi Municipality;  

d) Persons with disabilities registered in Telavi Municipality; 

e) Households on the Socially Vulnerable Households Unified Database registered in Telavi Municipality, with a rating score below or equal to 100.000. 

f) Households with many children on the Socially Vulnerable Households Unified Database registered in Telavi Municipality, with a rating score below or equal to 150.000.   

g) Persons registered in Telavi Municipality, who were left without breadwinner and are included on the Socially Vulnerable Households Unified Database, with a rating score below or equal to 150.000.

h) Single parents on the Socially Vulnerable Households Unified Database registered in Telavi Municipality, with a rating score not exceeding 150.000.

On the route Narekvavi Settlement – King Parnavaz's Square -  Mukhatgverdi Village – Zahesi Settlement, special terms (a 50% discount) apply to the following categories of citizens residing (registered) in Mtskheta: 

a) Veterans of War and Military Forces registered in Mtskheta Municipality;

b) Persons with disabilities registered in Mtskheta Municipality;

c) Socially vulnerable familities registered in Mtskheta Municipality;

The terms also apply to persons who are not registered in Mtskheta Municipality but have lived there permanently, which is confirmed by a certifcate issued by a City Hall officer in the corresponding administrative unit.

Dmanisi

All TBC credit and debit cards, as well as personalized and travel cards, are accepted on Dmanisi intercity buses.

 

General Terms of Travel

  • No grace period/free transfer applies on Dmanisi intercity buses after first payment.
  • Cash is not accepted on public transport. The fare can only be paid by bank/travel card.
  • Fares are set by the City Hall. Currently, the fare is 5 GEL

 

 Special Terms on TBC Cards

Students registered in Dmanisi are eligible for travel allowance – on TBC Student Cards (two free rides a day)

 

 Travel Cards

Travel cards can be purchased in Dmanisi TBC branches. A travel card costs 2 GEL and can be loaded at TBC Pay self-service kiosks. 

 

Personalized Cards

There are special terms (2 free rides a day) on personalized travel cards issued to certain categories of the vulnerable population as established by the City Hall. Such cards bear the holder's name, surname and photo. At present, personalized cards are issued by Telavi Municipality.

 

Special terms (two free rides a day on municipal transport) apply to the following categories of citizens residing (registered) in Dmanisi: 

a) Veterans of War and Military Forces registered in Dmanisi Municipality;

b) Persons with disabilities registered in Dmanisi Municipality (patients undergoing dialysis, blind persons)

Baghdati

All TBC credit and debit cards, as well as personalized and travel cards, are accepted on buses in Baghdati Municipality.

 

General Terms of Travel

  • No grace period/free transfer applies on Baghdati buses after first payment.
  • Cash is not accepted on public transport. The fare can only be paid by bank/travel card.
  • Fares are set by the City Hall. Currently, the public transport fare is 0.7 GEL.

 

Travel Cards

Travel cards can be purchased in Baghdati TBC branches. A travel card costs 2 GEL and can be loaded at TBC Pay self-service kiosks.
